Deschutes River Guided Fly Fishing Trips The world-famous Deschutes River is Oregon's finest trout fishery as well as the best place in the lower 48 states to swing a dry-line for summer steelhead. With ridiculously prolific insect hatches and more productive trout water than you can poke a fly rod at, this river is truly a trout fisherman's dream come true. You can choose to sample the pleasures of the Deschutes on a one-day float or join us for our favorite way to experience the river: multi-day float trips, including gourmet meals and unrivaled service and comfort in streamside camps. Mobile camps feature two-person sleeping tents with comfortable beds and a large weatherport wall tent for meals and socializing after a day on the river. Full gear handling and transport is provided each day, leaving you free to relax and fish your way through the luminous canyon scenery. Camps are located each evening to provide access to great fishing water within easy walking distance. Whether it's the famous Salmonfly emergence in late May and early June, the clouds of Caddisflies in July, or the promise of a tight-line grab from a fresh October steelhead, every month of the season offers incredible fishing in one of Oregon's most spectacular venues. Ideally suited for larger groups, Deschutes Multi-Day Trips are the perfect getaway for parties of 4 or more anglers. Take your buddies! Bring your significant others! Mongolian Taimen Fishing The Taimen is the world's largest salmonid. Voracious predators, Taimen have a special weakness for a twitched mouse pattern. And the surface strike of one of these old-world monsters is worth the price of the trip in and of itself ! Taimen average 10 lbs. (~ 30"), but will run anywhere from 15 inches to over 5 FEET long. Although Taimen once thrived throughout Eurasia, overfishing and pollution have decimated these populations. Taimen remain in healthy numbers in Mongolia where the remote rivers are relatively untouched by the forces of modern civilization. These rivers also hold good populations of Lenok (Asian trout), Grayling, and Amur Pike, all of which are receptive to flies. Fully equipped American jet boats piloted by skilled American guides are used to access up to 100 miles of river in any given week of fishing. Anglers can wade or fish from the boats throughout the angling day. The Camps are situated in the middle of the best Taimen fishing Mongolia has to offer. You will stay in a comfortable native yurt ("ger" in Mongolian) which accommodates two anglers. All meals are prepared by a Mongolian chef and served in the lodge dining room. There are hot showers (the best in Mongolia) to soothe your shoulders after a day on the river, and warm wood stoves in every ger. Simple and yet very comfortable, the camps are constructed and outfitted to provide angling clients with a safe and homey oasis from which to base their adventure. Sweetwater Travel Company of Livingston, Montana joins with Hovsgol Travel Company of Mongolia to offer exclusive fishing access and comfortable lodgings in this remote and rugged land. Mongolia offers a rare glimpse of some of the world's last untouched tracts of wilderness and a kind and generous nomadic people with a deep appreciation for nature. This is a Fly fishing only and Catch-and-Release only fishery! Taimen are unique and irreplaceable and we strive to handle them with the utmost respect and care. Two Dudes Fly Fishing's Matt Ramsey has guided in Mongolia for over ten years. If you are considering taking this fly fishing trip of a lifetime, feel free to contact us for insights and advice in planning your trip.
