Our rentals include the most stable and easy style boards for touring and also a wonderful selection of wave riders from from sizes 7’10 up to 11’0. There is no limit to the amount of times you can exchange your board within your rental period, which is always a great option since the waves and conditions change rapidly in Mal Pais/Santa Teresa. About Freedom Riding SUP Freedom Riding SUP Costa Rica was formed by Andy Seidensticker and his Costa Rican wife Edith.They started doing SUP lessons and tours early 2010, and opened a SUP Center near the launch spot in the Mal Pais Fishing Village. The business grew quickly with each year, and so has the quiver ofnbsp Stand Up Boards. They now offer the only SUP board rentals innbsp Mal PaisSanta Teresa, and have a range of boards for all levels, even for the most advanced SUPers out there.p pThe main focus at Freedom Riding SUP is to cater to all levels of Paddle Boarders, and help clients who are interested in coming to the Mal PaisSanta Teresa areanbsp CUSTOMIZE THE IDEAL TROPICAL SUP VACATION.nbsp No ridged structured camp format, but rather customizing clients vacation to fit their needs and desires, which will make each customers experience unique and structured in the a way that works best for them.nbspp pAndy was born and raised in San Diego,nbsp and started surfing in 1976 at the age of 6, and has been an avid surfer since. The year he graduated high school, Andy worked for World renowned fin designer and shaperrdquoCurtis Hesslegraverdquonbsp as an apprentice fin foiler, working along side Curtis for five years shaping the best windsurf speed fins, tow-in fins, and surfboard fins in the world.nbsp This led into Andyrsquos career in shaping surfboards, where he shaped his first board in 1993, and has shaped over 2000 boards since then.p pAndy took his first surf trip to Costa Rica in 1991, and fell in love with everything CR had to offer. Three years later he moved down for good, and has built a life and also a family.nbsp The first three years living in Costa Rica were on the Caribbean side in a town called Puerto Viejo.nbspIn 1995 Andy discovered Mal Pais on a tip from a friend, as it wasnrsquot really on thenbspmap yet.nbsp After his first visit to Mal Pais, andy decided to pack it up and move to Mal PaisSanta Teresa. Shortly after the move, he met the love of his life ldquoEdithrdquo, and they married in ldquo98rdquo and gave birth to Klarissa Seidensticker the same year.p pOnce the move was complete over tonbsp Mal Pais,nbspAndy partnered with a friend who also grew up in California ldquoAaron Abernathyrdquo , and together startednbsp the first surf company in Mal Pais, which was called ldquoCorduroy to the Horizonrdquo, where they made Custom Surfboards together,nbsp rented surfboards, ding repair, surf lessons and sold basic surf accessories.nbsp They were the only surf shop in town for four years.p pToday almost 20 years after moving to Costa Rica, Andy has diversified and hasnbspformednbspFreedom Riding SUP Costa Rica,nbspto cater to all levels of paddle boarders. His extensive knowledge of the whole area, mixed with the 37 years surfing experience, 25 years shaping experience (fin shaping is included), 4 years paddle boardingnbspgives Andy a very big advantage in providing the best service to his clients.nbsp It should be noted that some of the paddle boards that are used on Freedom Riding Adventures are Andys own designs, and are built to work best in the conditions on the Nicoya Peninsula.p pEdith has become a very dedicatednbsp Paddle Board Racer, and competes on thenbsp Costa Rican SUP Racing Circuit, which is organized by the Costa Rica Surfing Federation.nbsp She became National Champ the first year the circuit was run (in 2013), and this year is also winning the SUP Races and is locking down National Champ once again. Just recently, in May 2012, Edith was selected as part of a SUP Team Selection, to compete in the ISA World SUP Gamesnbsp which was held in Nicaragua. She finished 12th in the world in the long distance, 18 Kms race. Edith is now focusing on next years World SUP Games, and wants to compete in both the Long Distancenbsp Race, and the SUP Surfing as well.p
