Yacht Laws and Safety Regulations - Maximum 13 passengers allowed – By U.S. Coast Guard law, no more than 13 guests can be on board any chartered yacht, regardless of size. This rule is strictly enforced. - Bareboat charter law – Under Florida law, all yacht rentals must operate as bareboat charters. This means the renter (charterer) is temporarily considered the owner of the vessel during the trip. The charterer is responsible for paying the crew, fuel, and marina pick-up fee separately from the yacht rental price. - No illegal substances or activities – The use or possession of drugs or illegal substances is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination of the charter without refund. - Captain’s authority – The captain has full authority over the yacht and all passengers for safety reasons. Failure to follow the captain’s instructions may result in the early termination of the trip. - Safety briefing required – Before departure, all guests must participate in a short safety briefing to understand life jacket locations, emergency exits, and onboard safety rules. - Weather conditions – The captain has the right to delay or reschedule the trip if weather conditions are unsafe. Safety is always the top priority. - Alcohol consumption – Guests over 21 may consume alcohol responsibly. Intoxicated or disorderly behavior will not be tolerated for safety reasons. - No diving while the yacht is moving – Guests may only enter the water when the yacht is fully stopped and the captain confirms it is safe to do so. - Damage responsibility – Any intentional or negligent damage to the yacht or its equipment will be the responsibility of the charterer. - Respect marina regulations – Guests must follow all marina rules and respect other vessels and their crews during boarding and disembarking.
