1. Kayak Trip In County Meath

Kayak Trip In County Meath

There is something truly exhilarating about taking to the water in a Kayak that some would argue is possibly the most relaxing and breath taking way to see this country. The sense of freedom and connection to nature must be experienced to be believed, the fresh air and the chance to meander down through the Boyne Valley and paddle your kayak through an abundance of flora and fauna, past Medieval Castles, feel the heat on your back and get lost in this valley as you glide your way along, is as peaceful a way of moving from one place to the next as you will ever endeavour. We believe that the River Boyne is one of the most prolific waterways in the country and has been totally under used-until now! Over the last few years an abundance of colour and atmosphere has been introduced to the river in the guise of groups of kayaks and kayakers having the craic and enjoying their surroundings, we love being a part of it-so come on and give it a go! Price: €40 per person (group discounts available) - 2 Hour Experience - All equipment provided - No experience needed - Qualified instructors or guides on all trips. - All down river trips (mini bus back to base included) - Amazing scenery on the trip. - Some rapids and small weirs on the trips.

Boyne Valley Activities was born out of a love of kayaking that goes back many years for both Dara and James. Both men were founder members of their local Trim Canoe Club and brought the club from a “roof rack” club to 60 strong membership, with a club house  in a little over 4 years. The early days in the club would have seen a lot of organising people and gear over and back to different parts of the Boyne and to various rivers around the country, organising the activities and the day to day running of the club, so it was a natural transition to start up a commercial Kayaking business. It was always going to be a challenge to walk away from a paying job, but with the downturn in the construction industry and both men employed by that industry, it wasn’t too hard to go once their minds were made up, in fact, the lure of kayaking for your dinner was as exciting as it was risky, but there was always the chance of “living the dream” and that’s what drove  them  to make the change-will it work, oh yea! A couple of years into it, the lads have learned a lot and have worked hard. Business is good and they have expanded their activities from just kayaking to a wide range of outdoor activities to suit our growing customer base, it’s still early days, but this living the dream craic could soon be a reality!
