With a Seaspray day cruise, you can go ashore and explore the deserted island, sunbathe on the soft sand, or snorkel the colourful coral reefs. Great snorkellng spots are situated around the island, and our crew will take you on a tender to the best spots. After Modriki, we head to Yanuya Island. On Yanuya you will visit a traditional Fijian island village. You'll be welcomed ashore with a Kava ceremony (except Sunday) then have the chance to explore the village and meet the locals. A true highlight! The Adventure The whole day is a highlight! But two of the standout features from the day are the visits to Modriki Island and Yanuya Island. Modriki Island Modriki (pronounced 'Mon-driki') is a pristine little haven. The sand is vividly white, and the water is the clearest blue you can imagine. The island was made famous in year 2000 when 'Cast Away', the Hollywood block-buster movie staring Tom Hanks was released. Modriki is the island at which the movie was filmed, and although Tom’s character just wanted to escape Modriki, the last thing you'll want to do is leave! With a Seaspray cruise you can snorkel your way to shore and explore the deserted island, sunbathe on the soft sand, or read a book under a coconut tree. You'll probably find you'll be snapping a lot of photos too as this lovely island sure is photogenic! Yanuya Island When you step ashore at Yanuya, your smile will just grow wider as you meet the local villagers. This Mamanuca Island is home to a traditional Fiji Island village. The villagers welcome Seaspray guests with a Kava ceremony so you'll be able to try some kava if you wish and then chat to the locals as you browse their handicraft. Additional Services: Food and Drink There's nothing like a day at sea for a big appetite so we include morning and afternoon tea plus a delicious barbecue lunch. All your drinks are included as well with wine, beer, soft drinks, tea and coffee. Transfers to and from Denarau Marina FAQs When is the best time of year to visit Fiji? Fiji has beautiful weather all year with a very warm, tropical climate. The rainy season is from November to the end of March, but don’t let this 'dampen' your spirits, as the wet season is usually made up of plenty of sunshine, with only one or two sudden down-pours a day, meaning you can still enjoy your beach holiday! How do I arrange transfers to and from Denarau Marina? We offer complimentary coach transfers to/from most Nadi and Denarau hotels and accommodation to/from Denarau Marina for our resort connection services. We also offer this complimentary service for the majority of our full day cruises. You must advise us in advance if you wish to use this service. Will my mobile phone work in Fiji? Throughout the majority of the Mamanuca Islands and much of the Yasawa Islands there is 3G coverage so yes, most the time your mobile phone will work. Is there wifi onboard the vessels? Yes, all of our vessels are fitted with wifi. If you use our wifi, make sure you post some pics to social media to spread the news about your amazing holiday with us! How can I give something back to the Fijian community? Many of our day cruises visit islands owned by local Fijian villagers and on our Day Sailing Adventure, we visit a local village. The villagers benefit from our visits, and if you’d like to offer something extra, you’re welcome to bring gifts for the children. Can I bring alcohol onboard? All resorts are licensed therefore Duty Free Alcohol is best purchased when departing Fiji. You can however take your own alcohol to some resorts. It is best to check with your resort to find out their policy for supplying your own alcohol. Drinking your own alcohol onboard any of our vessels is strictly prohibited. Our vessels are fully licensed for alcoholic purchases. Day Cruises What should I pack for a day cruise? You're going to a tropical island and it can get hot and sunny! So it is advised to bring a towel, hat, sunscreen and of course your camera! A small amount of money for shell market purchases & deposits for snorkeling equipment (at selected resorts) is a good idea. You may also want some cash handy for additional drink and snack purchases. Which island do you recommend for diving? Many of the island resorts have their own dive operators. We recommend Reef Safari when on South Sea Island, which is a fantastic place for beginners or first-time divers as well as experienced divers. Can I take a day cruise from an island resort and end at Denarau? Sorry, no, we do not offer this service. If you are staying at an Island Resort you must return to that island at the completion of your day cruise. Should you like to travel to Denarau then you will need to purchase a resort connection service. With which day cruise can I experience the Fijian culture? There are a few day cruises we'd highly recommend if you want to experience the Fijian culture. One is our Day Sailing Adventure, which includes a visit to the village of Yanuya, where you'll meet village locals, be welcomed with a meke performance, be invited to be part of a kava ceremony and attend their shell market. Is it possible to visit more than one island in a day? Yes, we offer several day cruises that visit more than one island in a day. Which day cruise visits the location where Cast Away was filmed? Our Day Sailing Adventure has you step ashore at Modriki, the island at which the movie was filmed. Although Tom's character just wanted to escape Modriki, the last thing you'll want to do is leave! If the weather is bad will the day cruises still run? In the case of adverse weather the safety of our passengers and crew is paramount. Should we cancel a cruise due to weather conditions you are able to reschedule your day cruise to another day or get a full refund. Which day cruises are suitable for less mobile passengers? Most day cruises require disembarking the main vessel and being transferred to the island of your choice in a smaller tender vessel which will take you to the beach. However, if you are in a wheelchair, Mana Island and Malolo Island have wharf access, which enables our passengers to disembark the main vessel straight onto the island. Vessels Can I buy food and drink onboard the vessels? Yes, we sell a range of food and drink (both non alcoholic and alcoholic) onboard. Personal alcohol cannot be consumed once onboard. Do you have wheelchair access on the vessels? Our crew are more than happy to assist those in wheelchairs to board our vessels. Please note that the resorts of Mana and Malolo have wharf access. Other resorts require transfers from our vessel to the island onboard a smaller tender. If you have any questions, we can answer those through GetMyBoat’s messaging platform before you pay.
