The archeological site of Muyil is located in the norhern part of the Sian Ka'an Biosphere reserve. The ancient Mayan trading post is the perfect place to enjoy astounding mayan temples such as the 17 meters (57 ft) building known as "El Castillo" in the incredibly diverse semi-deciduous forest of Sian Ka'an. From the archeological site we take an interpretive trail towards the tallest observation point of Sian Ka'an to admire the exhuberant vegetation, the fresh water wetlands and a sand dune in the horizon. Once we reach the Muyil lagoon, we take a boat across two lagoons connected by a canal that has been in use for many centuries. Xlapak is the name of the building at the beginning of the lazy river and the start of an incredible floating experience in crystal clear pluvial water on its way to the caribbean. We float for over 30 minutes surrounded with mangroves, orchids, bromeliads and cacti while we hear the songs of birds and the wind blowing the seasonally floated fields of saw grass. A delicious vegetarian picnic with seasonal fruits awaits for us at the end of the float. Note: Our tour last for around 5 hours Tour Program: • 12-1pm: pick up at your hotel • Explore the archeological site of Muyil • Walk on a wooden interpretive path to reach the Muyil lagoon • Boat trip across Muyil and Chunyaaxche lagoons • Start of the float from Xlapak building • Picnic • 5-6pm: drop off at your hotel If you have any questions, we can answer those through GetMyBoat’s messaging platform before you pay.
