Basic Yacht Chartering Rules for Guests 1. Respect the Crew The crew is there to ensure your comfort and safety. Please treat them with courtesy and communicate your needs respectfully. 2. Shoes Off Policy Most yachts have a “no shoes” rule on board to protect teak decks and flooring. Non-marking boat shoes or bare feet are preferred. 3. Smoking Smoking is typically not allowed inside cabins or common areas. Check with the captain for designated smoking zones (if permitted). 4. Safety First Always follow crew instructions, especially during anchoring, docking, or while the yacht is underway. Life jackets are provided—know where they are located. 5. Cabin Etiquette Avoid bringing wet towels or swimsuits into the cabins to protect furnishings and linens. 6. Water & Power Conservation Freshwater and electricity are limited resources at sea. Please use them mindfully. 7. Personal Belongings Space is limited—soft luggage is preferred over hard suitcases. Store personal items neatly to keep walkways clear. 8. Toilet Use Only marine-safe toilet paper should be used—never flush anything else. Clogged toilets can quickly become a major issue at sea. 9. Meals & Allergies Let the crew or chef know of any food allergies or preferences in advance. Meal times may be adjusted based on daily activities. 10. Swimming & Water Toys Always inform the crew before swimming or using water toys for your safety. Never swim while the yacht is moving. 11. Noise & Privacy Respect quiet hours and other guests’ privacy. Sound travels easily on the water. 12. Environmental Care Do not throw anything overboard—help protect the beautiful marine environment. 13. Gratuity A gratuity (typically 10–20% of the charter fee) is customary for excellent service and is shared among the crew. 14. Communication with Captain The captain oversees all operations for your safety. If you have requests or itinerary changes, kindly discuss them with the captain first. 15. Relax & Enjoy Above all, make yourself at home, unwind, and enjoy every moment of your time at sea.
