It also has courses through western Tibet (in the People's Republic of China) and Northern India. Originating in the Tibetan plateau in the vicinity of Lake Mansarovar, the river runs a course through the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, towards Gilgit and Baltistan and then flows in a southerly direction along the entire length of Pakistan to merge into the Arabian Sea near the port city of Karachi in Sindh. The total length of the river is 3,180 km (1,980 mi). It is Pakistan's longest river. Rafting in Ladakh is a whole different experience. Floating past barren, rugged mountains which keep changing hues as we pass is a grand feeling. We run day trips on the Indus and Zanskar rivers in Ladakh. We leave Leh early (around 8 am) and drive to our put-in point. The rafting stretch takes anywhere between 2.5 to 3 hrs depending on the river volume of the day. You’ll be provided hot lunch on the beach at the ‘take-out’ point and would be driven back to Leh.
