The Okavango Delta is an idyllic wetland in the middle of the desert, aptly called “The Jewel of the Kalahari”, home to the most astonishing proliferation of bird, animal and aquatic life. Our houseboats offer the rare opportunity to experience this wetland paradise in comfort as you float along with waterways in peace, viewing the magnificent bird and animal life. Our houseboat trips ensure your exclusivity and privacy. There is no sharing with other guests or groups and so you can dictate the day’s activities. Our rates include the services of a chef and licensed boats-man, accommodation and the use of tender boats and utilities. You are left with nothing to worry about and nothing to do but relax and go fishing! Apart from the excellent fishing, guests enjoy exceptional birding opportunities along with the chance to view the rare sitatunga antelope, or watch elephants feeding on palm fringed islands. The hushed silence makes it all the more peaceful and the knowledge that you are in deepest Africa makes your experience utterly compelling.  The Houseboat Accommodation on the boat  includes 2 x double bedded cabins down stairs and 2 x single sleepers in an outside open air bedroom upstairs. The two upstairs couches can also be converted into sleepers to accommodate bigger groups. The boat is serviced by a separate toilet and individual shower and comfortably accommodates six guests. Peak Tiger season is in the Summer months  where we also experience a natural phenomenon known as the Barbel Run.  This spectacular time of year allows for excellent Tiger Fishing and the dates are usually booked well in advance for these months.  Other Botswana Fishing Species  Known as Largemouth Bream of the genus Serranochromis, the Nembwe (Serranochromis robustus), the Thinface Largemouth (Serranochromis angusticeps) and the Humpback Largemouth are all aggressive predators in their own right. Most active during the Winter months they require accurate casting and prove very challenging on fly. Attaining sizes of up to 6lbs they fight hard and are known too for their aggressive takes. Lighter rods in the 5-7 weight class are ideal for accurately placing weighted flies amongst the reeds and papyrus.  In order to accommodate larger groups of up to twelve guests we incorporate a small mobile camp. This camp is carried onboard and set up on the various islands where the houseboat moors each night. The camp is made up of spacious dome tents and a dining tent. All other facilities are shared with the houseboat and guests get to enjoy the best of both a houseboat experience and an island camping safari.
