For most snorkeling, island hopping, etc., we choose to use local pangeros (native fishermen) whose traditional fishing boats operate directly off of beaches. It is important to us to support the local fishermen, and of course they are expert in their water and boat skills. Pangas are a type of modest-sized, open, outboard-powered, fishing boat common throughout much of the developing world, including Central America, the Caribbean, parts of Africa, the Middle East, and much of Asia. We also have options for sport-fishing boats for people whose priority is off-shore fishing. And we have special sailing tours. So, we customize our choices of vessels and gear to suit the guests. The type of boat, and the captain, are carefully selected for their skills and their personalities. Each tour consists of a captain, the boat and a guide who is also the in-water snorkel and spearfishing guide.
