Jan's a gem. We were incredibly fortunate to get to sail the bay with him. He helped my girlfriend and I learn more about sailing, was knowledgable about the bay and surrounding waters, and really cares about both people and the earth. If you have the chance to sail with him, don't pass it up.
Jan was an amazing captain and host. He communicated prior to our adventure helping set our expectations. Upon arrival his vessel was accurate if not much better than the photos revealed. While we were a little nervous prior to arrival at the docks, Jans welcome and sail boat put us at ease right away. He is very professional, but also very easy going in allowing us the freedom to walk around his boat and ask him anything. We had an amazing, eye opening, afternoon trip and would recommend anyone visiting the Bay Area to do a similar trip. We have lived here for almost 3 years now and while on the water, felt like we were experiencing a totally new and exciting environment. Highly recommend Jan.
Jan is a very knowledgeable and friendly captain with sailing experience all around the world. His boat is awesome. It has places to ride and feel the speed, wind and sun, or you can ride in the cabin in comfort. The cabin will protect you from the wind and allow you to sit in the shade while allowing you to see everything all around the boat.
One of the best experiences! Jan was communicative and responsive ahead of the trip, and attentive and helpful while out on the water. Honestly cannot recommend him enough!
We loved our experience with Jan on the Hokahey! Everything was perfect. We had such a wonderful time exploring the Bay and everyone really enjoyed learning a bit about sailing. We hope to book another trip soon.
