Guided Kayak Tour In Linkwater

1 booking

There is no better way to experience the beauty of the Marlborough Sounds than from a kayak. Beginning in the sheltered waters of the Grove Arm or nearby Ngakuta Bay (neither more than 10 minutes from our base), at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound, this half or day trip provides the opportunity to explore secluded beaches and paddle beneath pristine native bush with a local guide. We stop for lunch at one of the many beautiful beaches along the way. Meet us at our base, junction of Queen Charlotte Drive and Anakiwa Road, at 8:30AM where you will be fitted out for your sea kayak and attend a safety briefing. We will generally return to Anakiwa about 4PM (summer) and a little earlier in winter for our full day trip. Our half day guided trips run 8.30am – 12.30pm or 12.30pm – 4.30pm. At day’s end, return to our base where there are toilets, free hot showers, a hot drink and time to yarn about a fantastic day out . . . NB. Please note that the exact details of your trip will depend on both the weather conditions and the other people in the group. We will however tailor the trip to suit individual requirements and we are able to cater for larger groups as well. Prices: Half Day Guided Trip: NZD $85 per person (no lunch included) Full Day Guided Trip: NZD $125 per person (including lunch) Minimum two persons. Please contact us to confirm availability before booking. Please contact us for a quote if you are a group.

This NZ owned business started from humble beginnings in the early 1990s with two Double Southern Lights and four Single Puffin sea kayaks under the ownership of Roger Reardon. Well-known in New Zealand kayaking circles, Roger started paddling in 1980 in New Zealand North Island where he focused on white water. After moving to the South Island and settling in Anakiwa while working at the Outward Bound School,he took on sea kayaking as a way to get out and explore the surrounding secluded waterways and inlets of Marlborough Sounds. At this time the sea kayaking industry was still a ‘work in progress and Roger became one of the founding members of the Sea Kayak Operators Association of New Zealand (SKOANZ). This association has since been instrumental in developing industry standard safe operating guidelines as well as a pathway for aspirant sea kayaking guides to gain experience, knowledge and qualifications. When new adventures beckoned, Roger sold the business into the ownership of Steve and Juliet Gibbons. Juliet and Steve continued the proud tradition of this Anakiwa sea kayak company and its commitment to the highest quality of kayak trip with safety paramount at all times. In 2013, former employees Aaron Price and Natalie Sutton, took over the business. They have lots of time, energy and enthusiasm to offer so that you can have the best trip in New Zealand. Aaron has many years as a freelance instructor around New Zealand under his belt whilst Nat brings an English flare to the business.
