Sea Scout, our Robalo 246 Cayman is the ideal vessel for plying the southern California waters. Featuring a large bow and aft casting decks, an onboard head (restroom), custom T-top shade, and many more amenities to make your private fishing charter comfortable and productive. Sea Scout is also a great vessel for Wildlife Tours, Whale/ Dolphin watching, and Harbor cruises. Prior to departure: Please make sure to purchase your California fishing license with the “Ocean-enhancement” (enhancement not needed for 1-Day license) and Lobster Card if Hooping at night before the day of the trip. Licenses can be purchased at Walmart, Big Five, or Turners sporting goods. They can also be purchased through California Department of Fish and Wildlife website. Please make sure to have a screenshot of the online license before departure. Children under 16 years old do not need a sportfishing license, but DO need Lobster cards if hooping. On all of our trips there will be bottled water. You are free to bring any beverages you would like, but please, no glass bottles. Please be prepared with a hat, jacket, sunglasses etc. Life vests will be provided upon demand and for children under the age of 13. There are no guarantees you will catch fish, but our success rate is extremely high. If you are unsure of anything listed, feel free to drop us a line. Gratuity and Tipping Our rates are reasonable and cover expenses like boat payments, fuel, insurance, maintenance, docking fees, rods, reels, tackle, hoop-netting gear, and safety equipment. Please tip accordingly. It is customary to tip 10-20% just as if you were dining at a restaurant. Tips are greatly appreciated by our captains. Charter Times When you book an “x-hour fishing trip,” you may think you will be hooking fish for x hours. It is important to realize that if you book a four-hour trip, you’ll be away from the dock exactly for four hours. This time includes the time from the dock to the fishing grounds, and back. All charter boats operate this way. This might seem like lost time, but you can use these moments to get acquainted with the crew, and to get a rundown of the fishing techniques you will be using. About Our Guides: Captain Woody Captain Woody's passion has always been fishing. He started his professional career In Sitka, Alaska where he captained charters for sportfishing lodges and worked as a commercial fisherman. He is thankful to have had the opportunity to deckhand with so many great captains there over the early years. He has fished the west coast from Alaska for massive halibut, and salmon, to way south in Mexico for wahoo and tuna. Now he's back where he first started fishing the ocean, happy to pass on all of his knowledge to his guests. Captain Woody and his guides are prepared to fish with your group of first-timers, or expert anglers. On his charters they target Calico, Sand, and Spotted Bay bass, Rockfish, Sheepshead, Sculpin, Yellowtail, White Seabass, Halibut, Lingcod, and more. He also hoop nets spiny lobsters when in season. Captain Andrew Captain Andrew grew up fishing in the Land of 10,000 lakes, otherwise known as Minnesota. He learned the sport from the best fisherman known to man, his father. While his love for fishing grew, so did his ambitions to catch bigger and more fierce sportfish. In 2015, he moved to Sitka, Alaska. He quickly became a licensed USCG captain and ran his own vessel the following years. He spent most of his adult life in the Treasure State of Montana, and lives and breathes the outdoors. If you love fishing, hunting, or the outdoors, Captain Andrew will absolutely love to hear and exchange stories while you enjoy your fishing charter. If you have any questions, we can answer those through GetMyBoat’s messaging platform before you pay. Just hit, “Send Booking Inquiry” and send us an inquiry for a custom offer.
