My wife and I had a great time on the Lake Ouachita. The sailboat is well maintained and sails well with easy to understand rigging. The water is clear and the lake has many coves to swim. We went out on a weekday and there was not a lot of power boat traffic. The lake is so open with islands and coves, the weekend would be just as pleasant. We enjoyed the provided kayak as well. John was an excellent host. He responds and communicates and is very available for questions. He also offered suggestions to make the trip more fun. The sailboat is docked near Marina and Cafe. Great time out!

A truly wonderful weekend! We arrived Saturday morning of Memorial Day weekend to the marina not quite sure what to expect. It was not very busy and we easily found parking near the dock. The boat is docked one dock over from the marina and just below a cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The cafe also has a nice little bar and live music on Friday’s. Every single person we encountered during our weekend was quite friendly. Lake Ouachita is a beautiful, clear lake with stunning tree covered hills. The wind is perfect for a relaxing sailing experience. John is a fantastic host, a great communicator, and made himself available to us if we needed. His S2 sailboat is in good condition. The interior is exceptional and livable for the weekend. It has cabin lights, fans, and a comfortable berth. I’m 6’1” and my girlfriend and I fit comfortably. The boat sails very well, even one handed. The rigging is simple and easy to understand. We had an amazing weekend on the boat and as I sit here Tuesday morning all I can think about is getting back on the water!! Big thanks to John and we can’t wait to book again with you!

My father had a great time out on the boat. It was fun, educational, and lake Ouachita is large enough to do some great sailing.

Additional Terms & Information

Super flexible with checkin and late check out as long as I don't have another booking wanting it the next day.  You can drag the kayak, leave on the dock or foredeck when cruising.  Please return it to the foredeck when you are checking out. The lake has tons of stumps and trees.  The S2 only draws 3'.  It is best to find a protected cove from the wind and waves drop anchor then secure the stern to a tree or structure on shore.  If Anchor gets stuck try going directly upwind letting out all the line using the boats momentum to pull it our backwards.  If stuck, simply mark with a fender and drop me a pin.  I will have it retrieved. Please make sure AC panel is on with all 3 breakers up and fan running when closing up boat.  Sometimes the GFCI is tripped.   Bring your own sleeping bags or sheets and pillows.  Cassette toilet is there to be used if needed.  The new restaurant has nice facilities.  Let me know if toilet indicator shows red and I'll get it serviced.  Located at J dock at Crystal Springs Marina. Please return her like you find her.
