About This Fishing Charter

Adventure is a perfect charter boat for Block Island light tackle striper fishing with just a couple of anglers or Point Judith flounder fishing with up to four fishermen.

The Adventure is a 35' Down-East style charter boat.  The Down-East hull is designed to handle turbulent Rhode Island waters with an excellent ride.  This boat is a Henrique, a builder based in New Jersey and is a very stoutly built vessel.  The gigantic cockpit (18'x12') provides enough room to allow light tackle striper fishing from this boat.  Easily fish 6 anglers off one side when drifting or anchored for flounder or tautog.  The Adventure is also a great RI striper fishing charter boat.  All the latest electronics are installed on this vessel:  2 GPS chart plotters, Radar, Sonar, and 1 VHF radio.  This equipment really helps put the boat on top of fish, showing the boat's position on bathymetric charts and position of fish and structure, things that are important for finding striped bass.  The charter boat has a single Caterpiller industrial marine diesel engine installed providing a 16 knot cruising speed.  The 150 gallon fuel capacity gives a 210 mile range.  The cabin has an enclosed bathroom on the right as you enter the sleeping berths below.   There is an area on the left to lie down if you get tired of catching fish while we cruise Block Island.

The charter boat Adventure is just across the harbor from Point Judith, Rhode Island.   We can look across the Galilee channel and see the commercial fish boats there on the docks, and the Block Island ferry landing.  Also across the way is Champlin's seafood restaurant and George's of Galilee.  35' Henrique Downeast sportfisher.

We are in Business and Booking for 2014

Our 2013 Adventure Rhode Island fishing charters season was excellent, catching lots of striped bass.  Adventure Charters was very fortunate to have many happy clients during the season. Once again we finished up the season with more trips than in 2012, making it our best in terms of number of trips. Our 3 charter boats 33-36' long with 6 passenger capacity were extremely popular with all our clients and allowed us to continue focusing heavily on light tackle fishing with plugs and soft plastic baits at Block Island. We expect that hundreds of striped bass, bluefish, and other species will be caught during this 2014 fishing season.  With a total of three captains and vessels available, Adventure Charters can definitely accommodate your 2014 fishing trip. We love sailing from Point Judith Salt Pond in RI.

We really appreciate the repeat business we had during the 2013 season, it helped very much to make it our best ever.  Let us also thank those people who recommended us to others, that was also a very big part of our 2012 season. Adventure Charters looks forward to taking you all fishing again.  Many people have already rebooked with us for 2013.

Rhode Island is known as the Ocean State, and with good reason:  there are many miles of coastline.  It is also the home of Block Island, a famous destination for striper charters.  Many big bass are pulled out of the waters surrounding this island every year.  RI’s Narragansett shoreline is also good for bass and blues, and has many areas of rocky bottom that hold the hard-fighting tautog.  The South shore has many good areas holding a variety of species that our clients like to fish for.  Brenton Reef and the Newport area are also good hot spots. Even the Point Judith harbor of refuge can hold plenty of fish chasing bait.  If you want to read about the different types of fish, use the links on your left to explore the pages for stripers, bluefish, flounder, tautog, tuna, and sharks.  Whether you're learning to fish or an experienced fisherman we can accommodate you on a trip.

We use many different techniques to catch fish. On a typical trip we can often use topwater plugs, swimming plugs and soft plastics to catch all our fish. Sometimes we use a variety of techniques, such as drifting with plugs, chasing fish and bait and casting swimmers into feeding fish, diamond jigging in deep water, and trolling with zigzag jigs using wire line. We do whatever it takes to find fish. If it requires burning a little more fuel, then so be it.

At the end of your trip we always fillet and clean your catch,  so you get some nice fresh fillets to take home and eat at the end of the day.  We can also hook you up with fresh Rhode Island lobster and quahogs at the dock--just ask about it.  The only fish we don’t clean is scup, because on those trips we can easily catch 200 fish, and it would take far too long to clean them, you wouldn't leave the boat until evening.

Dedication is important.  You can tell how good a fisherman is by how dedicated they are to the sport.  My dad and I are very avid fisherman; on our days off, we fish.  On our own trips we try out new rigs, fish new areas and old spots, and generally increase our knowledge and gain current information about where the fish are and what they will eat. This way we know where the current hot spots are.  It gives us a much better chance of finding fish for our clients.   We just love sportfishing RI!  Catch a striper today.
