📜 About “The Narrows”

This unique stretch of the Intracoastal Waterway is more than just a scenic route — it’s a slice of local history. The Narrows is where the mainland and barrier islands come closest together in Pinellas County, creating a calm, winding waterway lined with waterfront homes, docks, and landmarks.

In the early 1900s, it was home to the county’s first ferry crossing and later a swing bridge connecting Indian Rocks Beach to the mainland. Locals and visitors traveled this exact stretch to reach the Gulf long before modern causeways.

Today, The Narrows is one of the most peaceful spots on the ICW — perfect for dolphin spotting 🐬, relaxing with a drink 🍹, and soaking in views you just can’t get from the open Gulf.

When he’s not at the helm, Chris is a licensed electrician, accomplished chef, and natural storyteller.
