What You Can Expect:

When you private charter, you get the absolute best experience we have to offer because you have control of the schedule. We, of course, will have a general sail plan…..but there are over 17,000 islands to explore in Indonesia, so you can completely customize your time aboard and keep it flexible. If you want to stay at one island a little longer, no problem, we can cater for that.

We would suggest you look at our scheduled trips to get an idea of where you would like to go and then we can modify something from there, tailored specific to you. Here are some sample itineraries:

1 Day Bali / Nusa Lembongan Trip - Surf and Snorkel Tour includes lunch

DAY 1 - This cruise departs at 10:00 am and returns at Sunset. Lunch is provided aboard. There is an opportunity to dive, snorkel, surf and visit the beautiful Island of Lembongan. This one day (8 hours) Cruise is a must for any visitor to Bali. Lunch is served on board upon arrival at Nusa Lembongan. We will introduce you to sailing on a traditional phinisi vessel, snorkeling the local reefs and even surfing if the conditions are right. There is good reef and an excellent beginners surf break just next to our mooring on the Island.

4 Day Bali / Nusa Lembongan and Tour of the Gili Islands of Lombok

The Nusa Lembongan and Southern Gili Islands of Lombok Trip give you a real taste of cruising tropical islands and crystal clear waters of the beautiful Southern Gili Islands. On this trip, there is plenty of opportunity for swimming, snorkeling, diving, and exploring white sand beaches and little islands.
Day 1: After you board the boat at Serangan, we cruise to Nusa Lembongan where we have lunch. On Nusa Lembongan you can swim, snorkel or tour the small island. There is a chance to dive or surf here if you would like. Around sunset, we will set sail for Lombok.
Day 2: You will awake as we drop anchor at the secluded islands of Sekatong on the southwest coast of Lombok. We call at beautiful Gili Nanggu, then in the afternoon, we cruise to Banko Banko on the southwest tip of Lombok . This is a famous surf spot. There are possibilities to dive also. At sunset, we set sail north and arrive at Gili Air.
Day 3: After breakfast, we will explore the islands of Gili Air and The famous Gili Trawangan. Departing that evening at midnight for the trip back to Bali.
Day 4: We arrive back to Bali and have breakfast aboard in Serangan Harbor. Prepare for afternoon disembarking in Bali.

8 Day Komodo Trip - Bali/Lombok/Moyo/Flores/Komodo

Welcome to our Komodo Trip, this is the most requested of our Scheduled trips. You will be cruising through all the islands from Bali to Komodo, and there are literally 1000's to see. Komodo National Park is a world famous Dive destination teaming with fish life but to get there we will sail past islands with waterfalls, volcanic lakes and more within walking distance from the beach. You can snorkel with Manta, Dive with Sharks, explore the unbelievable beaches with your Stand Up Paddle, or simply sit back with a good book and a bean bag on our decks.
In actual fact, we can sail from Bali to Komodo in less than 3 days and even quicker on the return trip with favoring currents, but that would not leave any time to stop, snorkel, dive and explore this unique part of the world. Most of the passages between Islands are done in the evening. Keeping the days free for adventure or relaxation. This is our 8-day schedule for our public Scheduled Trips whilst Private Charter clients may modify as they choose.
Day 1: 10:00 am Guests received onto the boat, orientation and safety brief. 11:00 am Depart for Nusa Lembongan. 3:00 pm Arrive Nusa Lembongan. A nearby island to Bali, this is our first stop and it is an under-explored gem. You will be able to have your first dive here……if snorkeling you will see Manta cruising past the Eastern edge, feeding in the currents on the sandy bottom at only 5m. 8:00 pm Dinner and depart for Gili Air
Day 2: 7:00 am Arrive in Gili Air Harbour. This little island, part of the Gili Island trio is well populated and well visited, for a very good reason. It's stunning beach, perfect for snorkeling on an effortless warm current, taking you directly to a chilled out beach bar. Perfect…. A morning dive or two is very recommended here, but so is stand up paddle, with two perfect little waves to have fun on also. Any final supplies, such as some extra Red Wine is possible. 6:00 pm Depart for Moyo
Day 3: 10:00 am Arrive Moyo Island. Home of butterflies and waterfalls, one of which we will visit….made famous for its regular visits from Lady Di in the 90's. It is still a very remote island and only a few get to visit here. Anchorage at Moyo. Fantastic wall diving is possible here….you may want to go more than once! If you are snorkeling or spearfishing, you will not be disappointed!

What To Expect Onboard:

Our Boat originally named "Bulan Purnama" which translates in English to "Full Moon" was built in 1999 in Tanjung Bira, Sulawesi, Indonesia by Bougis carpenters. Bulan Purnama was built in the traditional manner as a classic Pinisi with western modifications for the comfort of passengers.

"Bualan Purnama" is one of the very few Charter vessels in Indonesia that offer Stand Up Paddles aboard. So you will be free to really explore the beaches……and if you have a SUP at home, why travel with your SUP when we have 2014 models on board. these are the perfect watercraft to explore local beaches as we arrive at the islands.  If you have never been on a SUP before, no problem. We are here to help you and we will help you learn. If you are feeling confident then we can take you into some waves…..a great water sport to compliment your other activities whilst on this trip.

Currently, the History books are being revisited in regard to these vessels. New information highlighted within Gavin Menzies recent works 1421 and 1434, with corresponding reference material, indicates the Indonesian ports major involvement during the 1400's when the enormous Chinese fleet's passed through the islands. Critical knowledge was gained during this era and is reflected in the earlier 'banana' shape of the vessel's, similar to the Chinese junks used for the major expeditions of that time.

The Evolution of the Indigenous Wooden Sailing Vessel in Indonesia has indeed taken some interesting turns over time. It has been studied by many, but perhaps the most comprehensive are by Michael Kasten, Kasten Marine.

Today the sailing 'Pinisi' hull form in many ways resembles a cross between two traditional American sailing vessel types, the Pinky Schooner and the Tancook Whaler, even though the 'Pinisi' hull type pre-dates those Western hull forms by centuries... In other words, in its original form, the 'Pinisi' was a double ended hull type, having sharply raked stem and stern post. There was not a centerline rudder, however, as with the American craft. Instead, the local Indonesian craft has most often made use of twin rudders, one on each aft quarter. Used both as transport and as cargo vessels, the craft we are calling 'Pinisi' have traditionally been built on the beach, where the logs have come from the forests of Sulawesi (Celebes), Kalimantan (Borneo), Java (Jawa) and Irian Jaya, then transported to the boat building sites.
